Federal Workers' Comp Doctor in New York
New York has one of the highest concentrations of federal employees in the country. If you are one of them and you got hurt on the job, you need a doctor who specializes in federal workers' compensation under FECA, not just any workers' comp provider.
Federal Workers' Comp Is Different from State Workers' Comp
Most workers' comp doctors in New York handle state claims under the New York Workers' Compensation Board. Federal workers' comp is a completely different system. It runs through the U.S. Department of Labor's Office of Workers' Compensation Programs (OWCP) under the Federal Employees' Compensation Act (FECA).
A state workers' comp doctor may be an excellent physician but have zero experience with CA-1 forms, CA-16 authorizations, or Department of Labor billing. That gap costs federal employees denied claims and out-of-pocket bills they should never have to pay.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is federal workers' comp the same as New York State workers' comp?
+
No. Federal workers' comp runs through OWCP under the Department of Labor, not the New York Workers' Compensation Board. The forms, documentation requirements, billing, and approval process are entirely different.
Do I have to use my health insurance for a work injury?
+
No. OWCP-approved treatment is billed directly to the Department of Labor. You should not use your personal health insurance, and you should not be asked for a copay or deductible.
Can I see a federal workers' comp doctor if my claim is not filed yet?
+
Yes. You can begin treatment before your claim is formally accepted. If your employer issues a CA-16 authorization, your first 60 days of treatment are covered regardless of the claim outcome.
